In the spring of 2012 Laura Sharp, Kari Woo and Natalie Gerber first collaborated to put together a sweet little home show featuring their wares. They were interested in the cross-pollination opportunities of sharing their audiences and also in creating an environment designed with their customers in mind. They started out small and simple but from the beginning were throwing around the idea of putting together a show that included more than just the three of them. They all had the sense that Calgary could be most welcoming to a well curated show featuring independent art, craft and design based on conversations with both colleagues and customers they had all been having. Just a year later, in the spring of 2013 the New Craft Coalition was formed and their first successful event held.

The New Craft Coalition aims to create a cultural event that provides a solid marketplace for quality makers to meet their audience and attract patrons that can understand and appreciate the intent and value of the work presented. The NCC now brings a carefully curated collection of art, craft + design to the people of Calgary twice annually!
