Lisa Brawn Woodcuts

I have been experimenting with primarily figurative, portrait genre painted woodcut blocks for over twenty years, almost exclusively using reclaimed and salvaged wood. I don't make prints from the woodcuts, but prefer the tactile quality of the blocks themselves.

Artist Statement
A major component of my art practice is exploring the possibilities for alternative venues and project spaces. There have been seven such experiments since 2001, starting with two vintage travel trailer mobile galleries, then on to independent art salons and window galleries. My next project will be the restoration of an Indonesian street food cart for use as a mobile pop-up gallery called “Meatball”.
