Types of Air Conditioning

The best cooling solution for all residences and businesses would be a centralized air conditioner. Central air is the most cost-effective, easiest to use, and most reliable. But a centralized air conditioner is by far the most costly to install.

There are many homes, offices, and businesses that have central air conditioners that work quite nicely. Many homes can’t afford a professional installation. Or many businesses could not afford a professional installation because their yearly power bills are so high. What can business and home owners do? They install a single-stage split system air conditioner.

Single-stage air conditioning systems offer many benefits. They are inexpensive to purchase and install, they are extremely easy to control and manage, and they are very energy efficient. They provide instant cooling when the temperature outside reaches extreme levels, and they require only a minimum amount of electricity to operate. They are perfect for many homes and businesses, but they do have some disadvantages.

They are also extremely energy-efficient and provide instant cooling if the outside temperatures reach extreme levels. But, when the temperatures drop just a bit, the cooling stops. The majority of these cooling units use a counter-balance thermostat in order to keep the house cool. The thermostat will return to a comfortable temperature at night and the unit will shut off. This means that even though the house is being cooled down, the central air conditioners must remain on to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Second, they are not as energy-efficient as the newer types of air conditioners that use a heat pump to cool the house. Heat pumps use air to move heat from one location to another, using a series of evaporators to do so. They are more expensive than traditional units, but they use a lot less energy. A heat pump blows outside the air that is already inside the home. Air conditioners work by pulling hot air out of the home and forcing it into an indoor space, where it is trapped by a cool air-conditioning system.

Third, they can be difficult for new homeowners to install. They require that one room be open in winter and another be completely cooled down in summer, as they are dependent on a counter balance thermostat to maintain the house’s temperature. It means that you can only have one room cooled. This makes portable air conditioners more difficult to install. If your room is large enough to house an air conditioner, it might be worth the investment. Portable units don’t take up much space and can be easily moved around to cool or heat up a specific area.

Fourth, they are not as efficient as ducted air conditioners. Ducted units cool the home by using a system of ducts that snake throughout the home. The ducts circulate warm air throughout the house while carrying cool air down to the central area. Air conditioners, on the other hand, use a centralized heating and cooling system that feed air throughout the house via ducts. They are therefore more energy-efficient when it comes to cooling just one room, whereas ducted units can cool or warm an entire home easily.

Finally, ducted air conditioning systems are more reliable than air-con units. Because they operate at normal room temperatures, you don’t have to worry about your air conditioners suddenly shutting down. On the other hand, air-con units cannot go into cooling mode without initiating a series of other tasks, such as replacing filters, testing refrigerant levels, etcetera. It can take several minutes for your air conditioner to cool down completely.
